Voltage & Current Optimisation is a term now commonly used to refer to the well-known energy-saving technique of reducing the electricity voltage supplied to a site in order to reduce losses in equipment.

• Voltage & Current Optimisation works by reducing losses in electrical equipment – thereby reducing energy consumption, CO2 emissionsand your electricity bill!
• The lifetime of equipment is also extended (because it generally runs cooler at the reduced voltage), with a consequent reduction in maintenance costs.

Also known as “voltage reduction”, "voltage correction" or “voltage power optimisation”, the technique has been understood for many years, and has recently received increasing interest as an effective means of reducing electricity bills, with savings of up to 15% being realised on many sites, and up to 20% on some sites.

The voltage supplied to many premises is much higher than it needs to be, leading to excessive losses in many types of equipment. This is partly because of the need to allow for voltage drops across the supply network, but is also a consequence of the harmonisation of supply voltage throughout Europe.

BlackCurrent™ is designed to operate on a mixed load set up and will save between 15% and 35% of energy on each installed electrical appliance. The device is connected directly to the clients Distribution Board (DB). This is a simple installation requiring limited client downtime. BlackCurrent™ can operate on 15A single phase supply and up to 150A three phase. It works by continuously detecting the required load and self adjusts its reactor coil and auto coil to provide an optimum supply to the required load.

How does it work?

BlackCurrent™ simply improves the quality of the existing power distributed from the electricity grid, as it enters commercial or residential premises. This has the effect of substantially reducing electricity consumption and hence gives significant reductions of costs. The additional benefit of this is to the network operators who are actively encouraging energy efficiency measures and the reduction of peak demand levels to enable their infrastructure to deal with the increasing national demand for electricity which reduces yours and their carbon footprint.

Our product can generate savings across a wide variety of load types, including:
