What is the operating temperature range?
The standard ambient operating temperature range is between -25°C and 45°C
What protection does our product provide from spikes and surges?
Our power quality product unit will assist in providing protection from spikes and surges. The amount of protection provided depends upon the size and duration of the spike (e.g. very high disturbances can be handled for short periods of time, slight disturbances for a longer duration).
What if there is a power failure?
If a power failure occurs the normal operation of our product unit will resume once power is restored.
Does the unit consume any power?
Our power quality product unit has an efficiency rating exceeding 99.8% and uses LED technology for the indication lamps. As such, the unit consumes negligible power. The net result is that the energy saving far exceeds any power consumed by the unit.
What are the main benefits of our product?
- Reduces electricity costs by up to 20%
- Reduces carbon emissions by up to 20% and helps achieve environmental objectives.
- Reduces repairs and maintenance costs on motors, lighting and equipment.
- Extends the lifespan of motors, lighting and equipment.
- Reduces electricity peak demand and capacity charges.
- Helps protect electrical equipment from short-term power surges.
- Helps protect sensitive equipment from the damaging effects of harmonic distortions.
- Typical payback period between 2-4 years.
- 10-year core component warranty with expected life span of 30+ years.
- Maintenance free operations.
How is our product assembled?
Our product has several core components that improve numerous aspects of electricity quality. The whole product is assembled as a single unit that sits neatly in an electrical switch-room.
What approval listings does the Saver have?
All components within the Saver are CE marked, and complies with BS EN 60076- 11:2004. All used components within our saver also have UL/ULC listed product status for North America (UL 508, Industrial Control Equipment), and has also completed Japanese (CB) and NATA (Australian and S.E. Asian) accreditation.
Is it best to do a ‘front-end’ solution or place multiple Saver units throughout our site?
Depending upon the specifics of the site, we can offer our clients either option. A ‘front-end solution’ involves placing one Saver unit that encompasses the entire electricity load of a site. This generates the greatest electricity and carbon emissions savings for the business. Sometimes due to the size of the incoming load and the design of the main switchboard, this option is not practical, as there may be physical restrictions within the switch-room and hence modifications required that make this an unviable option.
For many sites, and particularly the larger ones, we can often obtain a better financial ROI by targeting specific loads that provide the best energy savings (i.e. constant loads with long operating hours). This means that multiple Saver units with a smaller total capital cost than a larger ‘front-end’ solution may provide a more attractive financial proposition for your business.
With an understanding of your energy saving objectives and the information we collect on-site, we can recommend the most suitable approach.
On what load types can our product generate savings?
Our product can generate savings across a wide variety of load types, including:
- mechanical services i.e. HVAC (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning)
- 3-phase motors
- refrigeration
- general power
- HID lighting
- fluorescent lighting
- incandescent/ backlash halogen lighting
This means that viable Saver solutions can be tailored for nearly any industry sector.
What effect does our product have on different lighting types?
Our product is able to generate high levels of savings on lighting loads, particularly the following types:
- HID lighting
- Standard fluorescent lighting
- Incandescent lighting
- Halogen lighting
Lighting is typically a substantial and consistent user of electricity, so significant savings can be achieved by improving the efficiency of lighting loads.
Optimizing the voltage to the correct level will improve the efficiency of all types of lighting, including those with resistive or magnetic ballasts. If other energy efficient lighting devices have already been installed, our product can generally still create further savings, however the savings will be less than without the other energy efficient device. As well as creating energy savings, optimizing the voltage provides significant improvements in the lifespan of lights.
Incandescent lighting is particularly susceptible to high voltage levels and a 5% increase in voltage decreases the life of lamps by up to 47%. For fluorescent lamps, an increase in voltage of 10% decreases lamp life by up to 15%. Minimizing lamp change frequency by optimizing voltage creates significant cost savings in labour and replacement consumables
Can we use a Saver solution if we are generating some of our own power?
Yes. Localized electricity generation, such as wind turbines, photovoltaic cells, cogeneration etc. will often experience poor power quality due to the frequent switching that occurs between the various energy sources. Installing a Saver solution optimizes the combined power supply and improves the quality of electricity supplied to electrical equipment and machinery, creating efficiencies and energy savings.
Does the product conflict with the interests of the electricity network operators?
The product simply improves the quality of the existing power distributed from the electricity grid, as it enters a commercial premise. The main effect of the saver installation has on network operators is to reduce electricity consumption (and hence their billable revenue). Many network operators are actively encouraging energy efficiency measures and the reduction of peak demand levels, to enable their infrastructure to deal with the increasing national demand for electricity.
Our products must be installed and connected by official qualified and certified electricians according to the national and local regulations.
Does our solutions conflict with the interests of the electricity network operators?
Our solution simply improves the quality of the existing power distributed from the electricity grid, as it enters a commercial premise, after the meter and not before. The main effect our solutions installation has on network operators is to reduce electricity consumption (and hence their billable revenue). However, with the wide-ranging black-outs that have occurred during recent summers, many network operators are actively encouraging energy efficiency measures and the reduction of peak demand levels, to enable their infrastructure to deal with the increasing national demand for electricity. Our comprehensive power quality analysis ensures that the optimised voltage is set to within the national and overlaying statutory level.
All electric equipment sold is required to be able to work within this governmental statutory voltage range.Installation
